Exclusive: Palin Resignation 'damage Control' For Coming 'iceberg Scandal' - Embezzlement?

Palin is "resigning as part of damage control" due to a scandal that is "not of a family nature." ...
"The governor would not be able to continue her job when it comes out," she told me on the phone just now, before adding: "Why would Mark Sanford not resign, but Sarah Palin did? Her family didn't even know about the resignation until they were standing with her by the lake" when she made her announcement.
Yes. It seems another shoe, apparently a big one, will indeed be dropping, likely within the next week or so. Perhaps earlier now that everyone will be poking around up there.
FURTHER UPDATE: Okay, I've now been able to get independent information from multiple sources that all of this precedes what are said to be possible federal indictments against Palin, concerning an embezzlement scandal related to the building of Palin's house and the Wasilla Sports Complex built during her tenure as Mayor. Both structures, it is said, feature the "same windows, same wood, same products." Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources.
The BRAD BLOG has not been able to receive confirm from any federal sources on this. Our information comes from local Alaskans who follow Palin, and who have been keeping an eye on this for some time, while keeping it quiet at the request of federal investigators.

Having seen both they do look too similar and the new hospital in Wasilla bears resemblance as well.
I do know a bit about the construction process, when larger projects such as the sports complex, hospital etc are "bought out" they typically are considered "special run" for a manufacturer given size/scope as well as project specific requirements, that are not typically part of a "standard run" for most manufacturers/suppliers.
That these "similarities" exist between a commercial structure and a single family home are anomalous as well.

Guys, I'm no Palin fan, but I wouldn't get too excited. Out in the sticks, there aren't a lot of suppliers. Buildings that are built in a time frame close to each other tend to look alike, cause Merle's building supply was the only one within 50 miles. Also, there tends to not be a huge difference between commercial and residential. I've built out in the boonies.
Darryl, the size of these projects would in no way shape or form justify a special run for a manufacturer.
Don't beat me up, I don't like her one bit, but I do try to keep an open mind. Rabidly repeating rumors in print doesn't seem like the right thing to do.

You are probably right. I practically fenestrated a whole house with over-runs and project discards. Actually I was kinda pissed that I couldn't find a use for the famous flying glass panels that they removed from the Hancock Building in Boston before they killed someone. They were only $50 bucks a piece.

Except now the Feds are involved - it is a continuation of the VECO scandal that took out Ted Stevens. I'm willing to bet that she resigned today because the Alaskan blogger that has been digging at this story since Palin became Governor finally got her FOIA request in for Palin's emails on the issue.

Helping out a buddy isn't what this is about. When Sarah was mayor of Wasilla, the city awarded a $500,000 contract to design a sports complex to the architecture firm of a campaign contributor. The contract to build the $12.5 million complex then went to another campaign contributor. The building supplies provided by yet another Palin supporter. It just so happened that Todd and Sarah got a new house built at the same time, using the same materials on land purchased by the city...
Sarah managed to increase the city debt for Wasilla to nearly $25 million during her tenure as mayor. Many people found her running for VP as a champion of ethics reform to be laughable. She will be indicted - just wait.

I PERSONALLY know Libertarians who were fond of Palin, who engaged me in long debates regarding whether or not people like Sarah Palin were examples of genuine integrity in Washington. Hahahaha. I didn't even read your post Sons, I was just scrolling down this article and caught a glimpse of madgvar's comment. The construction of the sports complex isn't a "rumor", its a fact, therefore there ARE only two options:
Option A) She was stupid enough to buy materials from the very company that was also building the sports complex, thus making it look like she was paid off and therefore making it possible for rumors to abound
or
Option B) She really is crooked, she really was paid off, and she really is a hypocrite.
My open-mindedness doesn't come before my rationality.

There is NO shortage of comedic material on the right: Palin, Rush, Ensign, Sanford, "the new GOP", creationists, etc. They are practically standing in line waiting for their turn in the barrel. I do, BTW, consider kids off limits and Letterman's comments were simply wrong.
The left is harder, except for the occassional nonsense like Boxer and the General, what a self-impressed little @!$%# that woman is (and I said so in clear ringing prose). But, as I said, the left is harder. In most cases, the left is arguing positions based on their own thoughts and I try not to to hit too hard. I want to encourage INDIVIDUAL thinking as mush as possible, even when it is flawed.
The right has a REAL tendency to come out with the standard badly thought out talking points du jour. They seem to work from their "received wisdom" without stopping to question it at all, NO thought involved. I admit that kind of thing just annoys me and the gloves come off. The appropriate punishment for non-thinking adherence to nonsense is to be ridiculed.
Oh, and while we are at it, I have a pet peeve, namely hypocrisy. These clowns who spend their lives prancing around spouting the whole "family values" line to ingratiate themselves with their "base" all the while LIVING a VERY different set of values. Those clowns get vitriol, pure and unrefined. Yes, I know that one is a flaw in my character, but is one I choose to live with.

Why? Because lawyers need printouts so they can black out, or "redact," private or exempted information.
That task is more difficult because Palin and her senior staff have used government e-mail accounts for some personal correspondence, and personal e-mail accounts for much of their government correspondence.
The photocopies of those printouts will be a relative bargain, only 10 cents a page. A state administrator said he understood that such redaction could be done electronically, but that state offices weren't set up to do that.

I am cautiously skeptical about this, although it seems to be a common scandal Alaskan politicians are entangled in, Like Stevens, even though the Bush justice dept lackeys screwed up the prosecution of.
I'm sure it could be easily demonstrated through receipts from the supplier and at least some contractors that were not "buddies" with Todd that would be required to build a 3,500 square foot home. The deductibles they claimed for the labor and materials for home improvement and the like. Surely anybody who has undertaken such a large undertaking would have detailed records for about 90 to 95% of those expenditures.
If not ,Sarah and Todd might not be so lucky to have Bush league legal genius' of the Bush admin pursuing the investigation.

If in fact there is a federal investigation going on now concerning Palin, who initiated it? The reason I ask is because I feel Newt and Rommey wanted her out of the picture. Could it be GOP cannabalism at work again? Clearing the field for 2012? I think I can safely say the Democrats were looking forward to Palin for 2012 for 2 reasons, one for entertainment and the other to secure the reelection of Pres Obama. Irregardless of Palins popularity, she did poorly with women, which are the majority of voters.
It also stands to reason the GOP base would have insisted she be on the 2012 GOP ticket since that was a strong point of hers. My first thought upon hearing of her resignation was the GOP pushed her out some how, be it fact or fiction, time will tell.
