Prominent neoconservative site (PNAC) goes under

Read ArticleArticle Source: Think Progress
advertisement

Eleven years ago, the neoconservative Project for a New American Century (PNAC) set out its statement of principles advocating the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, putting the country on the road to a preventative invasion of Iraq. Signatories included future Iraq war architects Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and Elliott Abrams, as well as neoconservatives like Bill Kristol and Robert Kagan. From PNAC's statement of foreign policy goals:

"The history of the 20th century should have taught us that it is important to shape circumstances before crises emerge, and to meet threats before they become dire."

But just as the neocons are attempting to run from responsibility for the Iraq war, it appears PNAC may be abandoning its own website. Here's the message that greets visitors to PNAC's site:

"This Account Has Been Suspended"

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I knew this would be taken down before Bush term ended.

Good thing I have my own PDF file of Rebuilding Americas Defenses.

It may need to be used as evidence against Cheney et al. in the Hague someday.

What happened? They run out of money? If so, blame the Reptilian Overlord of Neocon Finance.

Dennis, I find your art works ( those I have seen here in the 'Vineyard ) disturbing and ugly in a beautiful way ( or perhaps I mean disturbing and beautiful in a ugly way? ) and I look forward to viewing your whole body of political art. ( I know there is a much longer German word for it; I just can't think of it right now. )

The only appropriate thing I can think of, is from the "Sound Of Music"

So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good night,
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight. So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, adieu, Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.

So long, farewell, Au'voir, auf wiedersehen, I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, goodbye,
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye, Good bye

Thankfully you don't have to hear me singing it.....

Purging started?

Given the history of internet discussion boards, I guess in ten years from now we will see the following NV posts:

John: "Arf, PNAC never existed, its all some looney-lefty fantasy."

Jim: "WTF, now everybody knows about PNAC, Wolfie, Cheney. Where have you bean"

John: "Ooh yeah? Prove it - but not from your left-CT trouthout sites - real sites only. What's you've got? Nuthin' Go away"

Jim: "%&$"@#%"

SPP "Myths and Facts:"

Myth: The SPP is a movement to merge the United States, Mexico, and Canada into a North American Union and establish a common currency.

Fact: The cooperative efforts under the SPP, which can be found in detail at www.spp.gov, seek to make the United States, Canada and Mexico open to legitimate trade and closed to terrorism and crime. It does not change our courts or legislative processes and respects the sovereignty of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The SPP in no way, shape or form considers the creation of a European Union-like structure or a common currency. The SPP does not attempt to modify our sovereignty or currency or change the American system of government designed by our Founding Fathers.

Ooh la la, panic gripping a bunch of Mahogany Rowites. Very uncharacteristic to hit the highway without a Golden Parachutte in place. Hmm, folding the tent at this point sends a wrong message; like a cut and run thang. It sends the wrong kind of message, like the ship is sinking and the rats are running for their lives.

The image is captivating though, if nothing more than ecomaginary view. The paranoia as the movers and shakers are shaking a leg with the document security rolling in like food services, with the industrial shredders and burn bags and locked cages. Shred, secure storage and duplication decisions flying at them. I'd pitch in to help, free of charge if they'd have me.

So many papers and never enough time. No system is totally error proof and to know in your heart, that all of your %$#@ and lots of your associates, needs to be safe too. That's a lotta meatballs. Haste, human errors and %$#@ happens.

It's not a pretty site to see hand stitched suits and monogrammed cuff talent, reduced to passing out big magnets and screwdriver sets. The Tension Alert Level is raised to neon orange and heading for heart attack red. Tough times, re-cork the champagne, it is sooo sad to see the sun set on the PNAC era, as a freaking Alka Seltzer event. We the People need to recognize their efforts, formally.

They just temporarily hybernate.

For more than a century that's been the routine, but now that there's some Democracy in the access to public information.

My bet is that we see an historic shift, to actually tuning past the hot air and lip service to matching the Board Seats with the policy revenues. It's way quicker and totally bipartisan. That's fair!!
