Great Lakes. 'Fresh' water lakes?

Better throw those fishes back. Sorry about your tap water. Maybe you shouldn't let your kids swim at the beach either. Got a good filter on your showerhead?

With water becoming the commodity over which the next big war will be waged (the one after the one over oil), why, for the love of our children, would they be allowed to dump toxic waster into the biggest supply of fresh water that our country has?

How is it that the people that make these decisions don't have the foresight to imagine what the consequences of their actions are?

Don't they love their children MORE THAN they love the money that the big oil companies kick back to them?

It shouldn't just be environmentalists that are up in arms over this kind of behavior, it should be ANYONE WHO CARES ABOUT CHILDREN.

cirrus-pilotRestored

it's unfettered, lase-faire capitalism that requires companies to race to the bottom line--at all costs. it's much more profitable to sell a product if you don't have to worry about destroying the immediate surroundings.

this was brought about by the Reagan revolution's mantra of "less regulation"--BS. all they want is less restrictions that protect innocent people. it's law-less-ness, plain and simple.

so I challenge the right wing capitalist to explain what hardship would BP have to suffer if it was required under law (regulation) to dispose of it's mercury in an environmentally sensible way? would it, as they right always claims, "put them out of business"? more BS...

That's why I am going to get my 'Green MBA', Robert. I so can help these corporations see that they have to work WITH Mother Nature if they want to survive. You can't kill your customers if you want them to keep buying from you!
